Shamrock Quay set to host Food Festival for community

Sun, sea and some of the best locally produced food will be served up at MDL Marina’s Shamrock Quay Festival on Saturday 1st April. There will be plenty of entertainment on the quayside, plus treats to try throughout the day, from 10am to 4pm.

For those who love vintage cars, there’ll also be some beautiful classic cars on display, as well as American cars, motorbikes and scooters.

Alex Handford, Business Manager at Hampshire Farmers’ Market, said: “This is the first time we’ve held such an event with MDL Marinas and it’s shaping up to be a great day out. We’re looking forward to welcoming 23 producers to the quay for the community to enjoy.”

In addition, Hampshire Farmers’ Markets’ members will have produce to try and buy. Berceries will be bringing along their delicious home-baked products to sell and the always-popular fishcakes by Catch Isle of Wight are sure to sell out on the day too. FNK have a plethora of pies to try at home, such as gourmet pork belly and Moroccan lamb. For gin drinkers, both Silent Pool and Winchester Distillery will be offering samples; not forgetting something sweet from both Fordingbridge Fudge and Cupcakes mmm Cookies.

Marina Manager at MDL Marinas Shamrock Quay, Jonathan Walcroft, commented on its involvement: “We are delighted to be hosting our first ever food festival at Shamrock Quay, which will perfectly combine sailing and fantastic local produce. There will be something for everyone at the festival, from face painting with Twinkle Face Painting to a live rhythm and blues band, ‘The Un’Xpected’. Our popular restaurant Quay FIFTEEN will also be hosting a special oyster bar, which will be a great chance to sample the local seafood.”

If you’re still feeling peckish after visiting the producers, Gavin Barnes, Head Chef from Hotel TerraVina in the New Forest will also be creating some delicious posh fish and chips. Plus, Three Copse Woodland will be giving a wood turning display.

Visitors will also be able to pick up some cookery tips from live demonstrations on the day from Executive Chef at the Exclusive Chef’s Academy, Andy Mackenzie, Chef Rocky Moore from Quay FIFTEEN, as well as John and Sylvia of JS Fresh Fish, based on the quay.

Shamrock Quay Festival takes place at William Street, Southampton, Hampshire SO14 5QL.
