To help customers with divided loyalties between their own father and that of their partner when it comes to celebrating Father’s Day, as well as offering a special breakfast and lunch menu on Father’s Day itself (Sunday, 18th June) the pub is also running the same special menu for father-in-laws and step dads on the Sunday following Father’s Day (Sunday, 25 June).
The Golden Ball’s general manager Steven Cronje says: “Because of the sometimes different locations between where parents live, it’s often not possible for couples to take both fathers out to lunch on Father’s Day itself, so we thought it would make it easier for children to keep both dads or step dads happy this year with two dates available to make a big fuss of dad.”
He adds: “Father’s Day is the ideal opportunity to say a big thank you for everything your dad does for you and whether you dine with us on Father’s Day itself or on our special Father-in-law Sunday we will make sure that your dad or father-in-law has an amazing time and feels well and truly spoilt.”
To help fuss dads and in-laws up even more on this special occasion, all dads, father in laws and step dads will also enjoy a free pint of beer when dining at the pub on the 18th or 25th June.
Families dining at the Golden Ball on either Father’s Day or their Father-in-law Sunday are in for a big treat with the menu offering a range of exciting dishes and there will be no need to rush dad out of bed on his big day as the Father’s Day and Father-in-Law menus are being served from 12 to 9pm.
Starters on the menu include pea and watercress soup, Black Bomber and chive fritters; duck Scotch egg, ratatouille salsa and red pepper ketchup and gin cured sea trout, heritage beetroot, capers and horseradish.
Delicious roasts offer dry-aged rump of beef; marinated leg of new season lamb and slow-cooked pork shoulder and other tempting mains include corn-fed chicken breast, wild garlic mash, Wye Valley asparagus, bacon jus; Cornish day boat sole, Jersey royals and samphire, crispy mussels, seaweed dressing and heirloom tomato and spinach tart, poached egg and basil hollandaise.
Desserts guaranteed to hit dad’s sweet spot include sticky toffee and banana pudding with popcorn ice cream; strawberry and elderflower pavlova with macadamia praline; lemon meringue cheesecake, sherbet and toasted meringue; milk chocolate panna cotta, sesame honeycomb and orange or a fantastic British cheeseboard.
If you want to get your celebrations started a little earlier in the day a Father’s Day breakfast is also being served from 9am to 11.30am with dishes including oak smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, chives and sour dough; eggs Benedict, avocado on toast, warm crepes and the Full Monty English breakfast served with a glass of fruit juice and fizz.
The Golden Ball’s Steven Cronje adds: “Tables for breakfast and lunch are filling up fast for both Sundays, so if you want to stay in dad’s good books then don’t delay in reserving your table now.”
The team at The Golden Ball, which is part of Epic Pubs, are also searching for the most heroic local dads in celebration of Father’s Day.
The pub is giving families the chance to make their father or someone who is like a dad to them feel even more special this year by winning the chance for him to be really spoilt in their Heroic Dads Father’s Day competition.
The pub’s team is offering the opportunity to win a family meal for four at The Golden Ball to enjoy on Father’s Day.
So if you have a dad you feel has been truly heroic in the past year – whether he has conquered a fear, shown real bravery, raised money for charity, taken on a new challenge or gone the extra mile for your family or someone else or if he is a hero just because he is your father then its time to nominate your star pa now.
The Golden Ball’s Steven Cronje says: “All dads deserve to have a big fuss made of them for Father’s Day, but we are looking for someone who deserves to be truly spoilt and have some extra recognition this year, a dad who has gone the extra mile for their family or community. We really want to give them a Father’s Day to remember.”
To nominate your heroic dad send a picture of him and the reason why he deserves to win to the firstname.lastname@example.org with ‘Heroic Dad Competition’ in the subject line or post a picture of your fabulous father and why he is your super hero on the pub’s Facebook page (The Golden Ball Pub).
Entries must be received by 5pm on Friday, 9th June and the winner will be announced by 6pm on Monday, 11th June so that the winning dad and his family can celebrate Father’s Day at the pub.
