An Audience With Joanna Lumley, OBE

Thursday 12 October at 2pm  The Watermill Theatre’s 50th anniversary celebrations continue with a very special fundraising event with Joanna Lumley, OBE. On Thursday 12th October, a Watermill audience will spend an afternoon in the company of the celebrated actress, who will share stories from her fascinating and varied life. Joanna Lumley OBE, actress, comedian, documentary presenter, model and activist, will recount career highlights from her 50 years in show business. A recent recipient of the prestigious BAFTA Fellowship award, Joanna is best known for her roles in The New Avengers, Sapphire and Steel and Absolutely Fabulous amongst others. Most recently, seasoned traveller Joanna has led viewers on an autobiographical journey across the globe in her ITV series Postcards from My Travels, visiting Russia, where she spent her early modelling career, and discovering ancient secrets in Greece. A committed campaigner for many charities, Joanna has often hit the headlines, and has been recognised with an OBE for her charitable work and activism for the Gurkha cause. In 2017, The Watermill Theatre marks 50 years of producing professional theatre. From a converted mill in Bagnor, The Watermill has produced hundreds of shows with many touring nationally and internationally. They have secured West End and Broadway transfers and have won numerous awards. An Audience With Joanna Lumley is one of a series of celebratory 50th anniversary events that will take place on The Watermill stage this year. On 13 October, David Gollins will detail how he personally converted the abandoned Bagnor mill into a theatre. Two days later on 15 October, An Audience with George Stiles and Anthony Drewe will provide an insight into the fascinating careers of one of musical theatre’s most celebrated writing partnerships. From 25 October to 4 November, the theatre will return to one of the first professional productions staged in 1967 with a new version of Under Milk Wood, a play for voices by Dylan Thomas. Tickets for An Audience With Joanna Lumley are £50. This is a fundraising event, supporting the work of The Watermill Theatre both on and off stage. The Watermill Theatre is a registered charity.
