Robert Sandilands Primary School have been presented with a cheque for £500 following their participation in Greenham Trust’s Step Up 4 Good 2017 running event. They have chosen to put the funds towards new school playground equipment.
The sum was awarded by Greenham Trust who welcomed almost 400 local students to its event on Sunday 15 October. A staggering 50 school’s participated, of which 23 were local primary schools. The prize draw was designed to encourage children to take part in the Mini Mile and Family Fun Run events, all schools who registered 10 or more runners were automatically entered into the prize draw.
The chief executive of Greenham Trust, Chris Boulton, said: “I would like to thank all of the local schools for their involvement, the event is a fantastic way to support the local community and offered pupils, parents and staff the opportunity to get active whilst raising money for their school. Robert Sandilands school did a brilliant job and we are delighted to present them with this cheque.”
Libby Bucknell, acting headmistress, explained how delighted the school are to receive the cheque. “On behalf of everyone at Robert Sandilands school, I would like to thank Greenham Trust for organising the event. We all had a fabulous time and the pupils are all over the moon to have won the prize draw.
“Along with this £500 prize money, we have been very fortunate in receiving further funding from Greenham Trust for our playground project on The Good Exchange. We could never afford to complete this project without the help of Greenham Trust.
“Now that we can purchase new playground equipment for the school, the whole school community will benefit from the fact that the pupils will get more opportunities for physical and personal development. We look forward to taking part in Step Up 4 Good again next year and hope that even more of our students will get involved.”
