One of the great social highlights of the Winter season with an electric atmosphere and something for everyone to enjoy.
The weekend kicks off on Friday 30th November with the feature race being the Grade 2 Ladbrokes Long Distance Hurdle, which has previously been won by iconic horses including Big Bucks, Thistlecrack and last year by Beer Goggles.
The racing is great, but this is a great social day out too, providing a great opportunity to try one of the range of dining options that Newbury has to offer including the award winning Hennessy Restaurant.
The highlight of the meeting though is undoubtedly, the Ladbrokes Trophy, on Saturday 1st December, the race that was formerly known as the Hennessy Gold Cup is one of the most eagerly anticipated in the racing calendar and it rarely disappoints. In the last 60 years it has been won greats such as Arkle and Mill House, and more recently by the likes of Denman, Many Clouds and Native River, the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner. Last year saw the first Irish trained winner of the race since 1980 with Total Recall winning for Willie Mullins. The Ladbrokes Trophy truly is a race where legends are made.
There will be live music after racing on both days, ensuring that the party goes on after the racing has finished. If you only have one day out rthis winter, make sure it is to the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival.
