Newbury’s new bus station

The new Bus Station for Newbury.

A ribbon was cut to mark the opening by Councillor Jeanette Clifford, West Berkshire’s Executive Member for Highways and Transport and Richard Benyon MP.

Located next to Newbury Library at The Wharf, its completion makes way for the start of the Market Street Development in Newbury.

Hoardings for the Market Street development will be in place in early December to signal the demolition of houses in Highfield Avenue (directly behind the old Bus Station) and the building of a temporary car park outside Newbury Railway Station. Residents can keep up to date with the Market Street development via our blog at www.westberks.gov.uk/marketstdevelopment.

Nick Carter, Chief Executive of West Berkshire Council said:

“These are exciting but busy times for Newbury.  15 years ago we came together to develop the Newbury Vision and we’ve come a long way since then. We’ve delivering some really exciting projects for the town and both residents and businesses tell us that they are feeling the tangible benefits of these.

“All of these improvements are key to realising the Newbury Vision 2026 which was created to ensure Newbury’s future as a great place to live, visit and work and starting work on the Market Street development is a key part of achieving this.”
