Sneak peek at John Lewis at home
Tomorrow Parkway will be joined by retail heavyweights John Lewis at home in a highly anticipated grand opening.
On Tuesday, Buzz magazine we’re given a sneak preview of the new store and spoke to store manager Dominic Joyce about what he hopes the store will bring to Parkway and Newbury.
Dominic says “Obviously we want it to be amazing and for everyone to come and have a look. I think people have perceptions as to what our store will be like but it’s so much more than just home products.”
The store hosts an assortment of products such as furniture, gifts & confectioneries, skincare and electrical items. It will also include new departments like fitted furniture and nursery.
The only section John Lewis at home will be missing is fashion. Dominic say “There aren’t that many towns big enough to take a full line department store but somewhere like Newbury is perfect for something that’s about 40,000 sq feet.”
There will be other opportunities to buy fashion with their ‘click & collect’ service where you can order fashion online and then collect after 2pm the next day from the store in Newbury.
Dominic adds “It’s a shame we didn’t open right at the beginning but I guess Parkway gets a second bite of the cherry. I think Newbury’s been waiting for a John Lewis.”
The grand opening will start tomorrow from 9am and includes various street entertainers in Parkway and a bunch of flowers for the very first customer.
